Frame Destination, a leading Internet-based retailer of custom picture frames and a complete inventory of framing supplies for those wanting to create their own, has announced an expansion of their glazing product line.

The new Plexiglas® acrylic glazing product will make the glazing part of the framing process easier for amateur and professional framers. This new acrylic glazing will replace the Acrylite® product formerly offered through Frame Destination's retail store on the World Wide Web. According to company president and founder Mark Rogers, the Plexiglas® glazing offers several advantages over Acrylite®.

Rogers says one of the big improvements is the elimination of paper covers, which were difficult to remove. He says, "Plexiglas® provides the easy-to-remove film cover on every kind of sheet acrylic...[it] will be easier to handle, and create a more streamlined framing process." In addition, Plexiglas® glazing's non-glare property offers more clarity than its competitor.

Of course, Frame Destination will continue to offer actual glass for glazing for those customers who prefer the more traditional material. It is worth noting however that Plexiglas® offers several advantages over glass, not the least of which is its much lighter weight and resistance to breakage. Increasingly, art museums and high-end art galleries are turning to acrylic glazing, as this material has undergone many improvements in recent years due to technological advances in the manufacturing process.

Plexiglass for framing is ideal for use with wood or metal picture frames, and can be employed in the glazing of art photographs as well as images created with oil, watercolor, acrylic or ink. (Because acrylic is more susceptible to static electrical charge, it is not recommended for use with chalk-pastels or pencil drawings.)

In addition to a full line of picture framing materials, Frame Destination also carries archival photo storage supplies as well as archiving solutions for fine paintings, documents and other artifacts.
