Local Actor and Writer Publishes First Book - Late Mother's Paintings Add Art; Color
Patrick Riviere has published a collection of poems, observations and paintings entitled Flowers in Autumn: endings and beginnings. Best know for his work as an actor and educator in New York City and the tri-state area, this marks his first book although he is no stranger to writing. Paintings by his late mother Genevieve Monacelli Riviere serve as the artwork for the book that Patick believes is "as much an art book as a poetry collection."
Cliffside Park, NJ (PRWEB) September 18, 2006 -- Patrick Riviere, known for his work as Education Director with Second Stage Theatre and Industry Liaison with The Undergraduate Drama Department at NYU's TISCH School of the Arts in addition to his acting and playwriting, has published his first book entitled, FLOWERS IN AUTUMN: endings and beginnings.
Described as a collection of poems, observations and paintings, the 75-page “coffee table” book reflects his love of nature and for his family, friends and partners, but also addresses his battles with loss and depression. Spattered with his late mother Gen's remarkable paintings (that seem to support his writing) the book affects a variety of the senses...or at least the author hopes.
“While I am so excited to finally be sharing this work with people, I am really proud to have so many of my mother’s paintings in the book. She was always a great supporter of mine and I hope this pays tribute to her,” Patrick mentioned.
Patrick has performed more than 75 roles in theatre, film and Television and has written several plays, adapted numerous children’s stories and wrote the book/lyrics for a children’s musical, Prince Watersplasher. His play, The House of Nunzio was given a workshop production in New York City in 2003. Most recently he played the Purser in the Broadway on the Boardwalk production of Anything Goes at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City while continuing to bring arts and arts education programming to the area through his work with All Seasons Theatre Company and The Hudson Riverfront PAC.
Genevieve Monacelli Riviere lived a fascinating life, working in a canning factory, for her parent's spaghetti houses and for the US Government, but her work as a painter was primarily a secret until her death in 1997.
The book can currently be previewed and purchased on-line at http://www.lulu.com/parplaywright Patrick is hoping to present some free readings and book signings in the tri-state area this fall.
