PolitiView.com, the Web’s first video marketplace for politics, has launched an interactive, e-citizen social media feature that lets American voters express their opinions about how they wish to be governed.

The open mic feature, called What Say You?, gives voters the opportunity to more fully participate in the growing direct democracy movement in this country. With a nod to history, PolitiView filmed a short “trigger” video in front of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, hometown of President Abraham Lincoln. The question posed to voters is: “What is the #1 issue affecting your vote this political season?”

PolitiView.com creates an online environment in which voters can connect directly with candidates for public office as well as special interest campaigns, without the usual filters and obstacles of traditional political communication channels. Voters can watch, analyze and comparison shop - just like they do for any other important purchase decision. Unlike other information sources, PolitiView.com provides context for voters, bringing campaigns and issues directly to voters in the easy video format they know – and have come to expect – in today’s online world.

Voters have already shared a wide range of responses, including:

  • “I think for me this year the biggest issue is making sure that whoever we have can transcend partisan bickering, can transcend pandering and lead in a thoughtful reasonable way.”
  • “For me, education is a very key issue that I’ll focus on when assessing the candidates this year.”
  • “What’s affecting my vote this election is healthcare. There should be a viable, affordable accessible healthcare option for every American. No one should be without healthcare.”

It’s easy to participate in What Say You? Voters can use a smartphone or web cam to film their videos and then post them directly to PolitiView’s Facebook page or YouTube channel. Selected videos will also be featured on the company’s website home page.
