Report by leading analyst firm also highlights the advantages of SaaS-based PPM Systems

PowerSteering Software is the leader in On-Demand Enterprise Project & Portfolio Management solutions.

Our clients consistently tell us that PowerSteering's ability to configure to their current needs and allow their use of the application to mature as their processes evolve is a compelling differentiator over other PPM systems.

PowerSteering Software, the leading Software as a Service provider of enterprise project & portfolio management (PPM) solutions, today announced its placement in the Visionaries quadrant of Gartner's 2009 Magic Quadrant for IT Project and Portfolio Management.1

"We believe this recognition is further validation of the strong momentum we continue to enjoy with our unique 'Enterprise SaaS' model, which combines the features and performance demanded by large companies, the cost and deployment advantages of SaaS delivery, and an unmatched flexibility that allows our customers to extend the discipline of PPM throughout the enterprise," commented Stephen Sharp, PowerSteering's Chief Executive Officer. "Our clients consistently tell us that PowerSteering's ability to configure to their current needs and allow their use of the application to mature as their processes evolve is a compelling differentiator over other PPM systems."

In its research, Gartner defined three main PPM scenarios: IT planning and control (ITPC), application portfolio management (APM), and enterprise PPM (EPPM). PowerSteering's PPM solution has been designed to readily address any of these areas, even within the same implementation. The PowerSteering application may be configured to manage any portfolio type - including projects, applications, IT assets, or services - as well as any workflow or methodology.

The Gartner report also highlighted the increased maturity of SaaS PPM systems. Among several reasons behind the growing popularity of SaaS vs. on-premises PPM solutions, the report acknowledged that "Choosing a SaaS-based PPM system allows the prospect to minimize the risk of a PPM system implementation because PPM application services can be limited to a 12-month financial commitment with a PPM vendor, as opposed to exponentially higher costs driven by licensing fees, consulting services and three-year maintenance contracts."
