Twin Triumph Productions, LLC announced today that Academy Award nominated producer Marc Smolowitz (Trembling Before G-D, 2001; The Weather Underground, 2003) will spearhead documentary coverage of a 10-city tour throughout Japan featuring San Francisco Bay Area residents Anabel Stenzel and Isabel Stenzel Byrnes, half-Japanese twin sisters and co-authors of the breakthrough memoir "Mirakuru Tsuinzu! Nanbyouwo Norikoeta Futago no Kizuna" (Miracle Twins! Twins Overcoming Illness Together"), set for release on September 29th by Iwanami Shoten Publishing.
From October 1st - 26th, the Stenzel Twins will embark upon an unprecedented tour of Japan that will share their life long battle with the fatal genetic disease Cystic Fibrosis and survival through miraculous double lung transplants with the industrialized nation that has the fewest organ transplants. Events will include press conferences, charity concerts, sports competitions, and meetings with medical professionals, politicians, and families.
Smolowitz - a 20-year veteran of the independent film industry - has signed on as Producer/Director of "The Power Of Two," a broadcast documentary in production that is inspired by the life story of the Stenzel Twins. Smolowitz said, "My crew and I are honored to be traveling to Japan with the Stenzel Twins to document their dynamic emergence as global spokeswomen for the urgent cause of organ transplantation." He added, "To support this international call-to-action, we've launched http://www.ThePowerOfTwoMovie.com," a robust community website that will promote the documentary, host videos and other content from the tour, and highlight those around the world working to promote organ donation and transplantation, Cystic Fibrosis awareness, and related health causes.
Notably, a prestigious group of international community partners and advisory board members has lent its support to "The Power Of Two." To date, the project's advisory board includes political leaders such as Congressman Mike Honda (CA-15), renowned medical professionals like Stanford's Bruce Reitz, M.D. and Columbia's Tomoaki Kato, M.D., and top media executives like Adam Dornbusch of Tribeca Enterprises.
