PowerSteering 9.2 Simplifies Portfolio Decision Making With Interactive Dashboards

Latest release of leading project portfolio management software continues to emphasize ease-of-use, flexibility, and user adoption

PowerSteering Software, the leading provider of business-driven project & portfolio management (PPM) solutions, today announced the availability of its latest product version, PowerSteering 9.2. Incorporating Voice of the Customer input from PowerSteering's global client base, the release provides dozens of enhancements to help organizations accelerate results from their strategic programs and Project Management Offices (PMOs).

The Interactive Dashboard is the anchor feature of the 9.2 release. While PowerSteering has always provided at-a-glance visibility of key project and portfolio information, new spreadsheet-like flexibility makes Dashboards a more powerful tool for program visibility and ad hoc analysis, empowering executive decision making in areas such as budget rebalancing and optimizing the portfolio to address changing business needs. Users can easily sort, filter, group, summarize data, and re-size and re-order columns on the fly. The Interactive Dashboard also improves usability by accommodating – and remembering – personal preferences for how information is displayed.

Another highlight of the release is increased integration with Microsoft Project. For organizations whose executives rely on PowerSteering for portfolio visibility yet still have project managers using Microsoft Project for project planning and execution, PowerSteering 9.2 provides "round-trip" integration with a new ability to easily export PowerSteering project data. Projects can be created in Microsoft Project, imported into PowerSteering to become part of the project portfolio, and later exported back to Microsoft Project, where project managers can make further changes. This helps encourage broad adoption of PPM by enabling strategic portfolio management while accommodating how project teams currently work, rather than mandating sweeping process changes.

Additional enhancements in PowerSteering 9.2 include new Resource Utilization reports for comparing planned vs. actual performance, and numerous customer-driven usability improvements to Resource Review and Project Central, PowerSteering's integrated workspace for project and resource planning.

"PowerSteering 9.2 further differentiates PowerSteering from other PPM vendors by providing a highly configurable, easy to use, yet functionally rich solution for enterprise project portfolio management," noted Stephen Sharp, CEO of PowerSteering Software. "I applaud our product team for remaining focused on delivering a high level of usability and practicality – which is what ultimately drives user adoption and software ROI – without adding undue product complexity."
