Vocus is multifaceted and it offers an entire spectrum of tools we need to work more efficiently

Vocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: VOCS) a leading provider of on-demand software for public relations management, today announced it has signed webcasting and virtual events provider ON24 as a new customer. ON24 cites Vocus’ ability to provide tools for the full-lifecycle of public relations activities – from planning and research – to execution – to the measurement and analysis of PR results as the central reason behind its decision to choose Vocus.

“The PR profession has changed substantially, mirroring those changes in the traditional media landscape – the expectations of PR professionals for productivity and results are higher than ever,” said Tricia Heinrich, senior director for Strategic Communications at ON24. “Vocus is multifaceted and it offers an entire spectrum of tools we need to work more efficiently.”

ON24 plans to use Vocus to manage its media contacts, track outreach efforts -- and to monitor, analyze and measure PR results. ON24, which leads in global market share for virtual events, also cites the ability to use Vocus for tracking the efforts of competitors as being among the key reasons for choosing the platform.

ON24 has an internal PR team and also maintains a PR agency on retainer. The company believes that Vocus will provide a platform for greater collaboration and enhance the value the entire team can deliver.

“The Vocus sales team really listened to what we are doing now and what we hope to do in the future,” added Heinrich. “They spent a lot of time with us reviewing our current solution. They took into consideration the roles of both our internal team and our PR agency and put together a program designed to truly supplement our needs as they evolve.”

ON24 also has a keen interest in social media and sees Vocus’ integration with its online news distribution service, PRWeb, as a means to facilitate its efforts to reach its community in social networks. News releases submitted to PRWeb – which can be done either through Vocus or at PRWeb.com – provides easy integration of social and multimedia channels including YouTube videos, social book-marking and Twitter through the TweetIt feature. TweetIt allows users to pre-schedule a Tweet about a news release to coincide with the timing of the news release distribution.

“PR professionals have seen their responsibilities increase dramatically in the last several years, without having the luxury of adding staff,” said Kye Strance, director of product management for Vocus. “For example, they’ve seen a social media role added to their traditional responsibilities; the only solution is to work more efficiently. Vocus helps leading companies like ON24 do just that.”
