Pradaxa Bleeding
Pradaxa was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2010 to prevent strokes in people with a heart-rhythm disorder known as atrial fibrillation. It has been marketed as an alternative to warfarin, a blood thinner that has been on the market for decades. However, according to a recent report from, regulators in the U.S. and elsewhere have since issued Pradaxa safety alerts warning of serious bleeding side effects associated with the drug.* According to the latest QuarterWatch Report from the Institute for Safe Medicine Practices (ISMP), an analysis of hemorrhage cases reported to the FDA during the second quarter of 2012 found that Pradaxa bleeding is 5 times more likely to result in death compared to warfarin bleeding.**

More than 170 Pradaxa lawsuits are pending in the federal litigation underway in Illinois. According to court documents, all of the complaints accuse Boehringer Ingelheim of selling the blood thinner despite knowing it could cause fatal bleeding in some patients, and failing to adequately warn that there was no readily-available antidote for Pradaxa bleeding. The first trials in the Pradaxa litigation are expected to start in August 2014.

Victims of serious Pradaxa bleeding may be eligible to collect compensation for their medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and more. To learn more please visit the firm’s Pradaxa lawsuit website, or call 1-877-779-1414 to speak with an attorney today.
