Transportation is this month’s theme at San Francisco’s preschool, Mother Goose School. During June, students at the preschool will learn about the different methods that people use to move and are moved.
“San Francisco has a unique assortment of transportation options,” Dana Hemberger of Mother Goose School said. “The children will learn about BART, taxi cabs, ferries and streetcars, and the famous San Francisco cable cars. Children will also learn about different means of transportation, such as wheelchairs, bikes, rollerblades, scooters, planes and sailboats.”
Children have been using their own two feet to run around Mother Goose’s new play structure. They are climbing, swinging and having a great time on the slide.
“We really think this play structure is well suited for our children,” Hemberger said. “We researched a variety of components to maximize creative play and gross motor activity.”
In addition this month, Flag Day and Father’s Day have the goslings busy putting together a craft that lasts.
“Parents are delighted when a craft comes home that is unique, represents the child’s best efforts and developmental skills, and lasts,” Charles Dennis, program director, said. “These items made will sit on a parent’s desk or will be displayed on a wall for years to come, reminding parents of how their children have grown through the years. Some of the most fun, original and unique artwork is done by children.”
Parents recently attended Mother Goose’s bi-yearly Parent Night. This bi-yearly event was a fun and festive evening, where parents were free to mingle and chat with each other and their child’s teachers. The “Goose” featured an exceptional spread and culinary delights made by their very own school chef. Champagne and cocktails rounded out the parent-only evening.
Mother Goose School would like to remind all parents to practice safe sun behavior and apply a minimal sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 before coming to school for best sun protection when children are playing in the yard, “fog or no fog.”
