Pre-Harvest Training on Precision Agriculture Technology Boosts Farmers' Productivity

Martens Farms hosts two days of training in Hutchinson, Kansas, on precision agriculture technology with Ag Leader Tech Support specialists. Free sessions on Tues., Aug 15 cover harvest setup and training, EZ-Guide Plus, EZ-Steer, Insight DirectCommand, and SMS software. The Wed., Aug 16 training is $125 and features hands-on computer-based training on SMS Basic software. Participants will learn to use the software, see demonstrations of key features and techniques, and hear tips and solutions to common questions. Lunch is included both days. Inman, KS (PRWEB) July 24, 2006 -- It's good for farmers to head into harvest with all their equipment and software ready for action, and with new skills to make using it easier and more productive. Martens Farms and Ag Leader Tech Support specialists are providing two full days of precision ag technology training and harvest prep. These pre-harvest training sessions will be held in Hutchinson, KS, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Ag Leader equipment training on Tues., August 15 and hands-on SMS Basic software training on Wed., August 16.

Cost is free for equipment training, and $125 for the computer-based SMS Basic class. Lunch is provided both days, and sessions are open to both tech-savvy and new-comers. Tues., Aug. 15 Precision Agriculture Equipment Training
This day covers general harvest setup, Insight DirectCommand, EZ-Guide Plus and EZ-Steer, and SMS software. The open workshop schedule for this day means people can come and go as needed. Ag Leader tech support specialists will answer questions and share tips and tricks. Basic and advanced topics will be covered, depending on interest.

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM -- Harvest training and setup
10:45 AM - 11:45 AM -- DirectCommand training and setup
11:45 AM - 12:30 PM -- Lunch (provided)
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM -- EZ-Guide Plus and EZ-Steer training

Wed., Aug. 16 SMS Basic Precision Farming Software Training
The Ag Leader SMS Basic class is hands-on, computer-based training to help new users get up and running with the software in time for harvest season and year-round. Ag Leader Technical Support specialists will teach participants to use the software, demonstrate features, share tips and answer questions. This class requires computer skills - basic Microsoft Windows commands will not be covered.

9:00 AM - 11:45 AM -- Basic SMS tools, importing files from yield monitors, creating and editing maps and map legends, and also printing maps, charts and summaries.
11:45 AM - 12:30 PM -- Lunch (provided)
12:30 PM -- Downloading satellite imagery, creating boundaries, creating soil sampling regions, reading soil lab data, writing prescriptions, and questions and answers.

Free lunch will be provided to all participants on both days. Attendees are encouraged to bring their Ag Leader equipment for free firmware updates, then a demo of the new or enhanced features in that update.
