Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 01, 2012
OrcaTec, the text analytics and eDiscovery company best known for its smarter predictive coding, announces that it has also been recognized as a leader in Early Case Assessment (ECA), this time by analyst firm DCIG.
DCIG and eDiscovery Solutions Group (eDSG) jointly on July 18 released the availability of the DCIG 2012 Early Case Assessment Buyer’s Guide, which they say weights, scores and ranks 25 software tools that help law firms, litigators and organizations reduce their overall cost of eDiscovery. OrcaTec was named in the top 5, outranking such industry notables as Clearwell, Recommind and Autonomy.
“We are gratified that DCIG and eDSG recognize the strong ECA aspect of the OrcaTec Document Decisioning Suite,” said OrcaTec’s CTO and Chief Scientist Herbert L. Roitblat, Ph.D. “Often we are viewed merely as predictive coding, but that is only one small portion of what we do. OrcaTec provides a number of tools to help businesses and firms find the information they need in the vast quantities of information they have.”
According to DCIG’s website, in 2012 alone:
DCIG points out: “This increase in data has made ECA Software an important asset to any organization routinely involved in litigation.” That is why DCIG says it worked with eDSG to create this first “commercially available objective ranking to assist in a buying decision of these ECA tools.”
DCIG and eDSG note that they examined 25 ECA software tools with “integrated holistic platform(s),” looking specifically at the following:
“We built our tools to work together on a single platform to help locate information that was otherwise difficult to find,” said Roitblat. “We know businesses need to be able to determine relatively quickly whether they should be headed toward trial or toward settlement. This Guide shows that analysts like DCIG understand OrcaTec should be considered a major player in that process – not as just the predictive coding guys in the Global Aerospace case,” referring to Global Aerospace v. Landow Aviation, No. CL 61040 (Va. Cir. Ct. Apr. 23, 2012).
