The world's most awarded vodka and New Zealand's premium vodka brand 42BELOW™, is proud to be the exclusive spirits sponsor of the 46th New York Film Festival, one of longest-running, most influential events of its type in the world.

Previous editions of the Festival have been responsible for showcasing the early works of directors such as Steven Spielberg, Pedro Almodovar and Jia Zhangke who have gone on to achieve iconic status internationally. This commitment to nurturing emerging artists is shared by 42BELOW, which later this month launches a creative arm 42x42™, dedicated to bringing the work of new talent in the fields of fashion, art, music and entertainment to a wider audience.

Cocktails made with 42BELOW vodka provide a fitting accompaniment to the rich and varied fare of this year's New York Film Festival, which includes Laurent Clement's Palme d'Or-winning "The Class" and Clint Eastwood's crime-era epic "The Changeling," starring Angelina Jolie. As ever, the programme strikes a balance between the familiar and the new, with works from heavyweights like Steven Soderbergh and Wong Kar Wai sharing the menu with Gerardo Naranjo's 'I'm Gonna Explode' and debut features like that of Turner Prize-winning artist Steve McQueen.

As well as hosting numerous Green Room dates throughout the Festival, 42BELOW is also the exclusive sponsor of both the Young Friends of Film Party at the Hudson Hotel, featuring a discussion with Benicio Del Toro, and the Directors' Dinner taking place at O'Neals.

Immediately following the conclusion of the New York Film Festival, 42BELOW will turn its full attention to 42x42™ and its first project, the ONEDREAMRUSH 42Second Film Showcase, which will be hosted on the portal http://www.42x42.com. This initiative, revolving around the compelling universal theme of dreams, is being developed in conjunction with Asia's largest filmmaker, the Beijing Film Studio, whose distinguished alumni include Chen Kaige, Zhang Yimou, and New York Film Festival featured director Jia Zhangke.

ONEDREAMRUSH has a dual format, the first being an on-line competition targeting the Chinese film community, which will be judged by a panel comprising Chinese and Western cinematic luminaries. The director of the winning entry will be eligible to have his or her work shown alongside 41 other 42-second pieces, commissioned by 42BELOW from an exciting cross-section of Chinese and international filmmakers, writers, actors, artists and visionaries, at a black-tie Gala in Beijing on April 2, 2009.

42BELOW anticipates releasing the first of the commissioned 42-second dreamscapes - which include contributions from Asia Argento, Richard Kelly, Michelle Civetta, Kenneth Anger, Wang Xiaoshuai and Jia Zhangke - during the last week of October.

Subsequent launches will continue on http://www.42x42.com until the ONEDREAMRUSH Gala on 4th February 2009.
