Presagis 2010 Award winners announced at I/ITSEC.

"We strive to honor organizations that have delivered unique applications that set new standards for development in the modeling and simulation industry," Guillaume Hervé, President, Presagis

Presagis™, a leading provider of commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation and embedded graphics solutions, is proud to announce the winners of the 2010 Presagis Awards, recognizing the technical excellence and innovation of customers and partners using Presagis COTS software solutions.

“Presagis is committed to fostering co-innovation and to work with the modeling and simulation community to provide solutions that help customers meet their most pressing modeling and simulation challenges,” said Guillaume Hervé, President, Presagis. “We strive to honor organizations that have delivered unique applications that set new standards for development in our industry; while also demonstrating deep technology and industry expertise that result in exceptional solutions to cutting edge problems.”

The 2010 Presagis Awards will be handed out at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) taking place this week in Orlando, Florida. Presagis Award winners include:

Most Valuable Plug-In or Application Based on a Presagis Product API: Adacel Inc.
Adacel’s Terrain Tool was developed as part of a FAA project that included development of 70 visual databases. The Terrain Tool takes care of modeling movement areas by preparing more than 85% of the work allowing database modelers to deliver on customer requirements while saving days or even weeks of work.

Best Database: Cassidian
Cassidian developed a high resolution, geo-specific database of the Celtic Manor Ryder Cup golf course to be used by Gwent Police Command for situational awareness and asset tracking of police officers. The development team was able to build a highly efficient database that runs consistently at 60Hz and displays over 400 entities, including buildings and tents, power pylons, trees, bridges, street lights, grandstands, scoreboards, tee boards, golf flags, and hole numbering.

Best Simulation Application: Defence Research and Development Canada
Defence Research and Development Canada developed the Civilian Activity Modeling for eXercises and eXperimentation (CAMX), a real-time multi-agent geo-simulation in which agents are individual pedestrians or vehicles. The goal was to simulate thousands of civilian entities on a typical gaming PC. By covering the most common range of civilian-military interactions, CAMX was able to raise the immersive complexity of synthetic environments to the same level that decision makers see on the battlefield.

Most Innovative Application – Modeling & Simulation: JC Group Ltd.
JC Group Ltd.’s flight to Mars project was created to train astronauts for all aspects of a Mars mission. The virtual flight includes a simulation of the landing and exploration of the Martian surface as well as a simulated return to Earth. They developed the interplanetary spacecraft, lander, Martian terrain, rovers and astronauts, as well as a wide variety of mission effects, including dust storms during the landing and takeoff of the lander.

Best Visualization Application: KaTron A.S.
KaTron developed a driver training simulator for the transportation company Istanbul Ulasim A.S.. For the simulator, the team built a geo-specific visual database of one of the most crowded areas of Istanbul that includes 20,000 buildings that were modeled one-to-one with real buildings. In addition, they created 4 versions of the train track and city to ensure that the simulation included changes in season and time of day.

Most Valuable Partner: Scalable Network Technologies
Scalable Network Technologies has developed QualNet, a high-fidelity network evaluation software that predicts wireless, wired, and mixed-platform network and networking device performance. By integrating QualNet into Presagis STAGE, Scalable Network Technologies is providing the market with cutting-edge communications realism for simulated scenarios.

Best 3D Model: Simthetiq
Simthetiq achieved the ideal balance between performance, realism, and functionality in the development of the A-10C Warthog 3D model. By manipulating the level of detail of the model’s highly sophisticated cockpit and leveraging new Radiosity tools to capture and transfer the aircraft's lighting information directly onto the textures as light maps, it was possible to fundamentally increase the model's realism.

Most Innovative Application – Embedded Graphics: Flexible Software Solutions
Flexible Software Solutions has developed User Application Accelerator (UA2), a bridge between VAPS-XT 661 and ARINC 661 system development. It enables the rapid development of dynamic Human Machine Interface behavior for an ARINC 661 target platform without the need for extensive knowledge of all the ARINC 661 protocols. Benefits to developers include the requirements traceability, automatic document generation of UA components to system data, reduced testing effort and a general faster time to market.
