New Initiative Encourages Consumers to Take Their Health Into Their Own Hands

Prevention Not Prescriptions Tuesdays

This project is about putting our health where it should be—back into our own hands—not in the hands of doctors, health insurers and big pharma.

On Tuesday, January 26 The Kathleen Show, a syndicated weekly radio program that encourages people to live their boldest and healthiest lives, will launch Prevention Not Prescriptions Tuesdays. The goal of the weekly initiative, which will be hosted at the show’s blog, is to inform and inspire people to better health.

To help kick-off Prevention Not Prescriptions, national health advocates including Lisa Oz and Dr. Christiane Northrup will appear as guest bloggers in the upcoming weeks. Lisa Oz, author of the upcoming book, "Transforming Yourself and the Relationships That Matter Most", will lead things off on January 26.

Every Tuesday people can stop by The Kathleen Show blog to read and discuss everything from natural remedies and healthy recipes to the politics of health and the health care industry. All of the information shared on Prevention Not Prescriptions Tuesdays will be provided by a community of health and wellness bloggers who are regularly writing about these topics—creating a hub for the best information on prevention.

“This project is about putting our health where it should be—back into our own hands—not in the hands of doctors, health insurers and big pharma,” says show host Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau. As a former (but reformed) legal drug pusher, I’m launching Prevention Not Prescriptions to create a home base for everyone out there who knows there's a better way.

"Prevention is sexy. It looks good, it feels good...hell, it even tastes good,” Slattery-Moschkau continues.

Prevention Not Prescriptions Tuesdays is open to anyone who is writing about nutrition, food, fitness, prevention or even the politics of pills and health. The venue is for sharing information that will get people to ask better questions and take charge of their health. Guidelines for participation are outlined at The Kathleen Show website. The initiative has been in BETA, but the project is now going wide and working with the country’s foremost health advocates.

Watch Kathleen’s video about why she started this initiative. Feel free to share it with your readers and/or get involved with Prevention Not Prescriptions Tuesdays.
