Global Pricing Leader Dr. Georg Tacke Discusses “Inflation and Pricing” at World’s Largest Pricing Conference in Las Vegas in October 2011

Dr. Georg Tacke, CEO of Simon-Kucher & Partners

The companies that manage to fight inflation effectively will be tomorrow’s winners, as only they will have the means to invest in new products, offerings and know-how.

The Professional Pricing Society (PPS), the world's only organization solely dedicated to pricing education and training, has announced that Dr. Georg Tacke, CEO of Simon-Kucher & Partners, one of the world’s largest pricing consultancy firms, will be a featured keynote presenter at the 22nd Annual Fall Pricing Workshops & Conference in Las Vegas, October 25-28, 2011.

With more than 20 years of pricing consulting experience, Dr. Tacke specializes in developing business, marketing and pricing strategies for companies in the service and automotive industries, and is well-known as one of the top pricing experts in these sectors. Dr. Tacke has worked with numerous firms worldwide and continues to support several CEOs and management boards as a personal consultant and coach. Simon-Kucher & Partners Strategy & Marketing Consultants is a global consulting firm with more than 500 professionals in 23 offices worldwide.

Dr. Tacke’s presentation, entitled “The Ultimate Test for Your Price Performance: How Inflation Can Change the Role of Pricing,” will address pricing’s increasingly critical role in the global economy, especially in light of current challenges such as struggling markets, inflation and the resulting price instability.

“Inflation is already here, it will continue to grow, and it will erode profits,” Dr. Tacke says. “The major question is how managers can make their company inflation-safe to secure margins. The challenge is simply to get prices up once costs are rising. It sounds easy, but in practice it’s not. Many companies are insufficiently prepared for the task.”

After many years of price stability, companies have forgotten how to deal with the challenges of inflation, Dr. Tacke explains. As a result, inflation will become a significant risk for almost every industry and is an acid test for every company's price performance. Top managers have to react quickly and make their firms "inflation-safe” and strategies have to be developed to cover rising costs and to offset the effects of money devaluation.

“The majority of the companies have no clue how their planned price increases pan out. On average, most companies only realize 53% of the originally planned price increase,” Dr. Tacke continues. “The companies that manage to fight inflation effectively will be tomorrow’s winners, as only they will have the means to invest in new products, offerings and know-how.”

Dr. Tacke’s Keynote Session attendees will learn:

  •     How to assess their own companies' level of "inflation resistance"
  •     Ways to develop and conduct successful price increase strategies
  •     How to systematically prepare their organizations and make them "inflation safe"
  •     How to use the current inflation period to upgrade the role of pricing in their organizations

In addition to this landmark keynote presentation, the 22nd Annual Fall Pricing Workshops & Conference will also feature 2 new 2-day workshops and 4 full day pricing training workshops, the 3rd Annual Pricing for Executives Summit and 18 sessions in three breakout tracks (Pricing Practitioners, Pricing Experts, Tools and Techniques) to train pricers at every level of proficiency in foundational pricing principles, the latest pricing strategies and research methods.

“Pricing education has never been more important for the business community,” says PPS President Kevin Mitchell. “Wall Street analysts are increasingly querying top corporate managers about their pricing performance and C-Level executives are being taken to task regarding their companies’ pricing plans, strategies, and tactics, especially in the context of this challenging global economy. PPS has been supporting the growth, education and development of the pricing community for more than 25 years, and this year’s conference is bringing together the world’s undisputed pricing leaders to prepare the growing global community of pricers to face new pricing challenges successfully.”
