In response to growing demand, WyzAnt has partnered with Lexis-Nexis to develop a new background check feature on WyzAnt.com. With this new feature, students and parents can check any tutor's record for criminal activity.
"The background checks are another avenue that we provide for connecting students with the best home tutors," says Andrew Geant, president of WyzAnt, Inc.. "Getting to know a tutor before signing up is crucial in the selection process. We allow students and parents to review a potential tutor's profile and communicate with the tutor via phone or email. The new background check option is an addition feature to help students and parents pick their tutor with confidence."
The background checks cover national, state, and county record repositories. Background checks can be requested for any tutor in WyzAnt's network by students, parents, or by the tutors themselves. Hundreds of tutors have already elected to perform the checks to increase their visibility on the WyzAnt site. Tutors who have already obtained a background check will have a special approval icon on their profile along with the date of the successful background check.
If any tutor refuses to consent or fails to pass a background check, WyzAnt immediately deactivates that tutor's profile. In addition, any students who have contacted the tutor will receive an alert regarding the background check results. If the background check is amended at a later date, the tutor's profile will be reactivated and any former students will be contacted by WyzAnt.
"We want students using the WyzAnt site to be confident in their tutor's credentials and secure in their choice. Performing background checks is just one more way we can help connect students with the best private tutors for their subject," concludes Geant.
