To address the need for leadership development for family business owners, SIM Professional Development (PD) and Babson Executive Education are proud to launch the 'Babson-SIM's Family Enterprising - Growth Now and for the Next Generation'.

Family businesses are the dominant form of enterprise worldwide, accounting for up to 90 percent of businesses in developed countries. Family businesses, regardless of size, face similar concerns of growth, succession and family firm structures. Managing the unique role of family dynamics is a key but neglected factor in the strategy to ensure the long-term success of the businesses.

The new Babson-SIM program seeks to address this growing leadership development need in Singapore by providing a tailored program for owners of family-run businesses in the region. Besides focusing on the core issues, the three-day program (25~27 February 2009) is designed to encourage and empower participants to adopt entrepreneurship which is key to long-term growth and sustainability.

This program is a new addition to the Advanced Management Programs (AMP) run by SIM PD which targets senior executives. Under the AMP umbrella, SIM PD will also launch a new program 'Staying Competitive in a Globalized World - Confluence of Corporate Strategy and National Development' next year (24-27 March 2009). Taught by faculty members from Harvard Business School, the program addresses the challenges of globalization that impact both the public and private sectors and the importance of collaboration between the two sectors to align and maximize corporate performance and national competitiveness.

SIM PD's signature C-level program 'The Job of the Chief Executive' will be running its 29th round from 29 June to 4 July, 2009. More than 1,000 senior executives from more than 35 countries have attended the program over the years. Some of the past participants include Ms Amy Chen (General Manager, L'oreal Taiwan) and Mr Vincent Phua (Chief Financial Officer, Singapore Computer Systems Ltd).

Besides addressing a lack in executive education, the augmentation to SIM PD's AMP suite has come at an opportune time for senior executives to be up skilled and better equip their businesses to ride on the economy when it recovers down the road.
