San Francisco Bay Area graphic design and development firm, Project6 Design, is proud to announce the launch of an updated brand and the website they created for the non-profit National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD). The branding was completed on a pro-bono basis, allowing Project6 Design to support the non-profit’s long-term goals. The website was built using the Drupal content management system (CMS), and integrates three previous websites into one comprehensive user experience to enhance functionality for both the visitors and NCCD staff.

Award-winning San Francisco Bay Area branding and design firm, Project6 Design, announces the launch of a new Drupal website project for non-profit National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD).

NCCD has been applying research to policy and practice in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and child welfare since 1907 by formulating innovative approaches to public safety and advising hundreds of agencies on effective and cost-efficient policies, strategies, and programs. Their studies and policy recommendations continue to revolutionize the field.

In addition to the complexities of merging three websites, NCCD also faced branding challenges. The logo and brand of the main website was outdated and focused more on the history than the future, while the other two websites had their own unique brands. The result was a group of websites and brands that lacked connection and consistency. Project6 Design created a family of brands that encompassed all the sub-brands in a comprehensive and flexible way. Accommodating the budget constraints often seen in the non-profit area, Project6 Design worked on all the branding components on a pro-bono basis.

Integrating the Drupal content management system (CMS) was also an important aspect of the project, and is a core component of the vast majority of Project6 Design’s in-house web development expertise. The CMS enables the NCCD team to easily update content and keep the website fresh and relevant. Leveraging Drupal, the new site has an integrated Blog, manages all publications (previously handled by a third-party service), has expanded News offerings, and allows for donations online. Most importantly, it provides a single platform for NCCD to showcase all of its programs and services. Drupal is the world’s most widely-supported open source CMS and is used by the White House and many other high-profile organizations to manage website content.

“We had a huge challenge going in to our agency website redesign – to bring what was essentially three separate websites with an extensive amount of content on each together into one,” said Alex Busansky, President, NCCD. “Project6 masterfully accomplished this for us, and created a design that is clean and fresh, as well as functional and easy to navigate. Their team was a pleasure to work with every step of the way, and we couldn’t be more pleased with NCCD’s new website.”

“NCCD has been really wonderful to work with,” said Esten Sesto, president of Project6 Design. “Every year, we try to donate some time or portion of a project to a meaningful non-profit cause. NCCD had complex needs concerning their brand and websites. We felt it was the right opportunity to give back. The new website integrates branding and information architecture from three sites and keeps all users in mind to create an elegant user experience. We are really proud of how the project has turned out and think it’s a great representation of how our services can help non-profit’s highlight their amazing work.”

Project6 also worked with NCCD to design and build two other new websites for some of the non-profit’s major projects: the National Girls Institute and the National PREA Resource Center.
