Completely Overhauling Their Database

Goal is to expand and have more accurate property records.

We've been constantly updating our database for more than a year, but this is a much bigger upgrade than normal., a popular property records search service, is in the process of updating their database in order to have more useful records for their customers, company officials said yesterday.

“We've been constantly updating our database for more than a year, but this is a much bigger upgrade than normal,” company spokesman Josh Fraser said. “We are not going to add to this database, but we are building a separate database from scratch to complement it.”

The new database will come from a different source independent of their current database, Fraser said.

“What we are doing is taking the information from this database and cross checking it with our current records,” Fraser said. “Then, we're updating the original database with any new information we find. Beyond that, we are cross checking the records against each other so we can eliminate any errors in our original database.”

By having the cross checking system in place, Fraser said the company can make sure that any data entry errors from the original database are found and corrected.

“It would be nice to think that the people who are entering the information in the original database are perfect, but we know that they are only human,” Fraser said. “Mistakes can be made, but we want to minimize them. We can only serve our customers well if we make sure our records are as accurate as possible.”

More than a dozen new IT staff members have been brought on board for the project, which should be finished by the end of February, Fraser said.
