Training Customer Service Staff to Help People Avoid Property Scams

All of our customer service representatives now understand exactly what the information in a report really means. has had their staff go through an intensive training program to help them understand and explain real estate scams, company officials said yesterday.

“People buy our reports because they don't want to become a scam victim,” a company spokesman said. “But they may not understand what the information means and what information signals they have been targeted by scam artists. Our customer service staff needs to be able to explain the information to them when they contact us.”

Information on public real estate records is sometimes written in a hard to understand legal language, the company said and that may obscure signals of an impending scam.

“All of our customer service representatives now understand exactly what the information in a report really means,” he said. “They've also been trained to know what to look for if a customer is worried they might be a potential scam victim.”

The company said they didn't want their staff to simply handle billing related questions, but to be an informative source for their customers.

“We've always been willing to go the extra mile in terms of customer service,” he said. “Having our staff understand how to make sure our customers are not scam victims is just an extension of that.”

As the company learns about new real estate scams, the training will be ongoing he said.

“This is not a one-time thing,” he said. “We are going to fight real estate scam artists every way we can for years to come.”
