Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) March 29, 2012
Prophecy Healthcare® added four, unique Dysrhythmia assessments pushing the robust online Clinical Assessments library over the 100 point mark in March 2012. Clients now have access to over 100 Nursing and Allied Health specialty-specific competency exams to aid in hiring and retaining the most qualified personnel for healthcare positions. Additionally, Prophecy offers annual education modules and skills checklists bringing the total number of healthcare specific assessment tools to 228. Using validated clinical exams – where content is directly linked to specific job functions and requirements - assists with hiring and retaining the most qualified personnel for healthcare positions.
“Exceeding the 100 launched clinical assessments mark was a goal kept in sight for quite some time. With each assessment requiring a multi-month validation process, our team knew this was no easy feat,” explained James Ostmann, Sr RN, MBA, Chief Nursing Officer. “However, Prophecy is committed not only to increasing the number of specialty-specific competency assessments offered, but also to publishing top notch assessments in 100% compliance with the EEOC and federal guidelines.”
Based on client feedback, Prophecy’s Clinical Team identified an unmet need in the ability to assess a competency frequently required by nurses working in high acuity care areas – ECG measurements. Prophecy’s prior assessments focused solely on ECG rhythm interpretation. So, the March launch featured two unique options of Dysrhythmia assessments.
The first assessment is a Dysrhythmia Interpretation & Measurements that assesses the caregiver’s complete knowledge in ability to perform accurate measurements on an ECG tracing, including heart rate interpretation, PR intervals, QRS duration, and overall rhythm interpretation. The categories included in rhythm interpretation are atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced, sinus, and heart blocks.
A Dysrhythmia Interpretation Only option was released as well, assessing the caregiver’s ability to correctly interpret the cardiac rhythm as presented on an ECG tracing. The categories included in this assessment are atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced, sinus, and heart blocks. There are NO measurement competencies (heart rate, PR intervals, QRS duration) included in this assessment.
With both the Dysrhythmia Interpretation & Measurement and Dysrhythmia Interpretation assessments being developed using Prophecy’s rigorous validation process, parallel forms for each type of Dysrhythmia assessments have been created, offering clients an “A” version and a “B” version. Parallel forms, although alike in content breadth and difficulty level, house unique questions from one another. This aids clients in the ability to offer pre-training / post-training testing with unique question sets and further facilitate and customize remediation/education initiatives.
Prophecy foresees these assessments being particularly helpful for nursing educators when developing and customizing educational plans for their nursing staff, based upon the test results of each individual.
