Advanced Prostate Cancer Treatment called, brachytherapy (seed implant) was demonstrated by Dr. Michael Dattoli, founder and physician-in-chief of the Dattoli Cancer Center & Brachytherapy Research Institute in Sarasota, in a TV broadcast from WBBH-TV NBC-2 from Fort Myers, FL on August 13, 2009.

Brachytherapy, a form of advanced prostate cancer treatment, involves implanting tiny radioactive sources (seeds) into the gland which emit a measured amount of precisely focused radiation over time to kill cancer cells. Dattoli uses brachytherapy in conjunction with daily sophisticated 3D Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, with Dynamic Adaptive Radio Therapy (3D IMRT with DART) in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer.

This advanced prostate cancer treatment combination therapy has resulted in the world's longest, most successful treatment protocol for advanced prostate cancer, as reported in February 2009 at the American Society for Clinical Oncology meeting. Dattoli's 16-year study stands as the longest published "prostate cancer cure rate" study in the world. The study, following men with high-risk prostate cancer, reveals a cure rate of 82% after 16 years of follow-up.

In last week's television broadcast, Cape Coral, Florida City Council member Bill Deile received 69 seeds in the 25-minute advanced prostate cancer treatment procedure performed at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as an outpatient. Deile, who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer earlier this year, has shared his experience through interviews and a blog on the TV station's website. Deile wanted to educate other men about prostate cancer and the advanced prostate cancer treatment option he chose. He has continued to work throughout his prostate cancer treatment and plans to be at the City Council's regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, August 17.

Michael Dattoli, MD, is the author of a number of textbooks, articles, papers, booklets and the recently published Blue Ribbon Prostate Cancer Solution, (available from Amazon.com) that reviews all currently available, mainstream treatment option for advanced prostate cancer, as well as containing his 16-year study prostate cancer results.

Details on the study and information on all publications are available on the website: http://www.dattoli.com.
