Three Prufrock Press Books Win Prestigious Legacy Book Awards

Three outstanding books published by Prufrock Press Inc., the nation's leading resource for gifted, advanced, and special needs learners, have been named winners of the 2009 Legacy Book Awards.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 22, 2009 -- Three outstanding books published by Prufrock Press Inc., the nation's leading resource for gifted, advanced, and special needs learners, have been named winners of the 2009 Legacy Book Awards, which recognize outstanding books published in the United States that have long-term potential for positively influencing the lives of gifted children. The Legacy Book Awards are given each year by the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT), the largest state advocacy group of its kind.

This year, the Legacy Book Awards recognized three outstanding books for educators, parents, and students. Strategies for Differentiating Instruction: Best Practices for the Classroom (2nd ed.), by Julia L. Roberts, Ed.D., and Tracy F. Inman; Raising a Gifted Child: A Parenting Success Book, by Carol Fertig; and Social-Emotional Curriculum With Gifted and Talented Students, edited by Joyce VanTassel-Baska, Ed.D., Tracy L. Cross, Ph.D., and F. Richard Olenchak, Ph.D., are the winners of the 2009 Legacy Book Awards.

These three books join Parenting Gifted Kids: Tips for Raising Happy and Successful Children (Prufrock Press, 2007) and Best Practices in Gifted Education: An Evidence-Based Guide (Prufrock Press, 2007) as Legacy Book Award winners, as well as six other Prufrock Press books that have been honored since 2003.

The Legacy Book Award winners will be recognized at the TAGT Professional Development Conference: Growing Their Gifts on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The authors will present breakout sessions during the conference, at which time they will receive their awards.

Prufrock Press Inc., now the nation's leading publisher for gifted, advanced, and special needs learners, was established in 1988 to fill the much-needed void of materials in gifted education. The extensive list of Prufrock Press materials includes textbooks, teaching guides, books for parents and teachers, activity books, and journals in gifted education for teachers, administrators, parents, researchers, and students.
