Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 4, 2010
Prufrock Press, the nation's leading resource for special needs, advanced, and gifted learners, was featured in the March 1 edition of "Publishers Weekly" as one of the nation's fast-growing small publishers. The recognition comes on the heels of 21% sales growth for the company from 2007-2009, attributable to the company's acquisition of niche products, a market-driven approach to publishing, and soon-to-be-released digital editions of the publisher's titles.
Prufrock Press was one of 11 small publishers featured in the industry news magazine's annual list, which can be accessed at http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/451118-Carpe_Diem.php. "Publishers Weekly's" Small Publisher Standouts list highlights independent presses in the United States who were exemplary in terms of growth in sales, number of new titles released, and number of employees.
"Publishers Weekly's" 2009 list focused on small publishers with the "ability to seize opportunities quickly." The article specifically noted Prufrock Press' commitment to digital editions. Joel McIntosh, Prufrock's publisher, noted, "While other small presses have taken a wait-and-see approach to digital content, Prufrock is committed to offering our books in digital formats to our customers. By the end of the second quarter 2010, we will offer digital editions of most of our titles through our website and through all major ebook channels."
Prufrock also plans to expand its special needs line of products in 2010 by adding new categories such as ADHD, behavioral disorders, and strategies for inclusive classrooms to its already growing line of products for parents and teachers of students with learning disabilities, Asperger's syndrome, and autism. Following the successful January 2010 release of "Take Control of Asperger's Syndrome," the company is launching a line of young adult nonfiction titles under the "Take Control" series, including "Take Control of OCD," which will release in November.
In 2010, Prufrock continues to cement its reputation as the leading publisher of materials for advanced and gifted learners with its recent partnership with The College of William and Mary's Center for Gifted Education. With the center, Prufrock released seven new advanced curriculum units in 2009-2010 and the widely successful "Jacob's Ladder Reading Comprehension Program." The company also recently released several titles in its college planning line, including "Free College Resource Book" and "College Success for Students With Learning Disabilities."
