After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Prince George’s Hospital Center (PGHC) in Cheverly, Md., has hired Candace Hanrahan as chief nursing officer. A seasoned healthcare executive with more than 30 years of clinical experience, Hanrahan will assume her new duties on April 12.

Formerly, Hanrahan was with Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md., serving as senior director. In this role she provided leadership of three critical care units, three telemetry units, respiratory therapy department as well as neurodiagnostics and non-interventional cardiology and remote monitoring.

Hanrahan earned a master of science in nursing and a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish, Maine. She also has a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Hanrahan is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), American Association of Nurse Executives (AONE) as well as the Maryland Association of Nurse Executives (MONE).
