Ebb & Flow Arts presents "New Music Celebration". The New Music Celebration, November 23-25, 2008, features performances of the work by and the residence in Hawai'i, of Scandinavia's leading composer, Per Norgard (http://www.pernoergaard.dk) (Denmark). His seven symphonies, concerti, choral works, operas and solo works span over 40 years. His compositional system - "infinity series" - is the provocative basis for many of his pieces.
Featured performers include Ebb & Flow Ensemble - Scott Anderson, clarinet/bass clarinet, Ignace Jang, violin, Mark Votapek, 'cello, Robert Pollock, piano, harpist Tine Rehling (Denmark), the leading exponent of Norgard's harp music, pianist Anne Marie Abildskov (Denmark), Anders Beyer, Director of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and a leading expert in Danish contemporary music, Honolulu Symphony performers Eric Shin, percussion, and Claire Starz, flute, as well as members of University of Hawai'i Contemporary Music Ensemble, Dr. Thomas Osborne, director.
Sunday, November 23, 5 p.m. -- Fifth biennial presentation by Maui Arts & Cultural Center, McCoy Studio Theater, One Cameron Way, Kahului, Maui. Ebb & Flow Ensemble including the world premiere of Per Norgard's newly commissioned work by Ebb & Flow Ensemble, "Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking." Also works by George Walker, Carl Nielsen, Astor Piazzolla and the world premiere of Robert Pollock's "Trio #7, "Vanishing Boundaries." Special guests include Tine Rehling, harp, Anne Marie Abildskov, piano. Anders Beyer, director of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, will moderate a pre concert discussion at 4 p.m. Admission to the concert is $25, $12 for students and seniors.
Monday, November 24, 7:30 p.m. -- Doris Duke Theater, Honolulu Academy of Arts, 900 S. Beretania St., Honolulu, Oahu. Music by Per Norgard, George Walker and Astor Piazzolla. Featuring Ebb & Flow Ensemble, Eric Shin, percussion, Claire Starz, flute, Tine Rehling, harp, Anne Marie Abildskov, piano. Free admission.
Tuesday, November 25, 7:30 p.m. -- Orvis Auditorium, Univ. of Hawai'i, 2411 Dole Street, Honolulu. with University of Hawai'i Contemporary Music Ensemble, Thomas Osborne, director. Works by Per Norgard, Shulamit Ran, Vincent Ho, Robert Pollock, Edward T. Cone, Carl Nielsen. Featuring Ebb & Flow Ensemble, Anne Marie Abildskov, pianist. Admission $12, $6 for students. Free lecture by Per Norgard, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Ebb & Flow Arts, Inc. (E&FA) is a non profit presenter of modern music and multi media events. It is the only such presenter in Hawai'i, and was founded in 1999, by composer/pianist Robert Pollock. It aims to break down the barriers between the arts and form a bridge between artistic expressions and cultures. E&FA creates a global sound board and mirror for music and art in Hawai'i.
