Napa Valley has long been revered for producing some of the world's best wines partly because of the incredible quality of the grapes grown within its regions. Now, for the first time ever, the same grapes that are used to produce award-winning Napa Valley fine wines are being used to produce a true world-class Vodka as well.

Made by the Napa Valley Distillery and handcrafted in extremely tiny batches, Napa Vodka is the first and only Vodka ever produced using 100% premium Napa Valley wine grapes harvested from a single vintage and a single Napa estate.

The company was founded nearly two years ago by Arthur and Lusine Hartunian. The couple has already enjoyed great sucess by winning numerous medals, including a Platinum Medal from the World Spirits Competition for their frist product called Napa Cello, a delicious liqueur made from organic Meyer Lemons.

“Napa Vodka is not made from a blend of vintages or from anything that can be harvested more than once a year. Such ingredients cannot be justified with a vintage designation. We used only 100% premium Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc from a single vintage and a single Napa vineyard, making Napa Vodka a true Vintage Vodka declares," Arthur Hartunian.

The company's first vintage, a 2008, will be available in late September, 2010 and with only 2600 bottles available, the company is definitely not in it for the money.

INGREDIENTS

World renewed for its exceptional crisp flavor and distinct, floral notes, only 100% premium single vintage and single estate Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Napa Valley are used to make Napa Vodka. These gems command up to $2000 per ton and nearly 20 tons of grapes are needed to produce just one tiny 300 gallon batch of their rare spirit.

Almost all commercial Vodkas are made using cheaper ingredients like grain, corn, rye, wheat or potato. These ingredients sell for between $75-$400 per ton and very little of the actual product is needed to produce an equal batch.

DISTILLATION AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

The grapes are first crushed, fermented and made into a fine wine, by an award- winning winemaker in Napa Valley. The wine is then aged 2 years in specially crafted stainless steel tanks preserving its young, raw flavor and crisp, floral bouquet until it's finally ready for distillation.

Using old-world methods and techniques, the wine is then slowly and artfully distilled to perfection by Award-Winning Master Distiller, Jordan Via, in an original Vendome Copper Pot Still.

The very time consuming and tedious distillation process is done completely by hand and with the utmost care and craftsmanship in order to retain just the right amount of the fruit characteristics found in the vintage Sauvignon Blanc, striking a unique balance of power and elegance in the Vodka.

“For each batch, we start with about 3000 gallons of wine and end up with less than 300 gallons of spirit,” adds Master Distiller, Jordan Via.

Jordan, who is no stranger to making unique Spirits and Vodkas, including a two-time Gold Medal winner made from two-row barley, put his Master Distillation knowledge to work for Napa Vodka.

"Napa Vodka is distilled up to 5 times in our Copper Pot Still, retaining the specific characteristics of the fruit we want while still displaying the power, taste and smoothness of true world-class, ultra-premium luxury Vodka," says Jordan.

Napa Vodka is then filtered a staggering total amount of 10 times. First, through very costly activated bone charcoal filters and then through precision platinum plated filters removing even the slightest impurity for an uncompromising silky-smooth finish.

The final result? An unmistakable taste, quality and character from a Vodka that was meticulously handcrafted from the most highly regarded ingredients to ever go into a bottle of Vodka.

NO ADDITIVES AND FLAVORS

Napa Vodka has absolutely zero additives, like sugar and glycerine or flavorings like citric acid and essential oils mixed in. Something only a handful of Vodka's in the world can lay claim to. Even all the best sellers.

Being a grape-based Vodka, Napa Vodka is also completely Gluten-Free.

"The balance of our Vodka comes naturally and is derived from the premium ingredients we use and the artistry by which we combine them to create a Vodka with such incredible depth and flavor. I am thrilled with the incredible job Jordan has done with Napa Vodka. He's been able to capture the pure essence of Napa Valley in the form of a Vodka," adds Arthur Hartunian.

Dan Kessler, the company's Director of Marketing says "if you're looking for something truly special to sip and enjoy like fine Brandy, Scotch or Port with a distinct character combined with the rare and unique marriage of power and grace in the form of a true ultra-premium Vodka, then you won't find a better example than Napa Vodka.”

"Once you've tasted Napa Vodka, you'll immediately know that what you're drinking is truly unique. Napa Vodka is an extraordinary Vodka you can speak endlessly about, or say nothing at all. There's absolutely nothing in the world like it. The distinct scent and the flavor cannot be compared to anything else. It has simply raised the bar to what Vodka can be," adds Kessler.

The cost to create this rare and unique treasure is very high, making Napa Vodka one of the highest priced Vodkas on the market at around $80 for an individually hand numbered 750ml sized bottle, which comes encased in a matching gift box and product certificate.

Only 2600 individually hand numbered bottles of Napa Vodka will be released to commemorate their first Vintage – 2008.
