EDified Online, a new division of the Cincinnati based online curriculum provider Sevenstar Academy, is now able to provide award winning online curriculum to Catholic schools nationwide.
Partnering with Catholic schools with grades 6-12, EDified Online is able to offer over 70 core courses such as Algebra, Chemistry, American History, Government, and Latin to supplement existing school course selections, address schedule conflicts, expand summer school options, and introduce possible revenue generation opportunities. Other course possibilities include Advance Placement classes, unique electives (digital photography) and SAT/ACT test preparation- all from an “online” classroom environment.
With solid experience in partnering with secondary schools around the world through Sevenstar Academy, EDified Online will be solely focused on meeting the needs of Catholic schools through the growing popularity and success of online learning. As part of their preparation to enter the Catholic school market, and to ensure the standards and expectations of a rigorous catholic education are met, EDified Online conducted a critique of its curriculum by 50 Catholic teachers with specialties in each of the core fields of study. Each educator who reviewed their course specialty was assigned the task of identifying any shortcomings and needed improvements. Upon completion of the review, participants gave EDified Online the thumbs up to move forward with their college preparatory curriculum for Catholic students.
One Catholic teacher who conducted a review of her subject matter said: “This is an incredible program. The coursework is thorough, and involves a wide variety of assessments. Additionally, it appeals to students at all levels. There is a plethora of assessments. Each student has the opportunity to gauge their success in advance by viewing the simple rubrics. Background information is available for any student who needs to subsidize their work. As a parent of three high school students and as a teacher, I would feel comfortable sending any student through this program."
In addition to the course offerings for the traditional classroom, EDified Online will make available WEB resources and tools that bring the world into the classroom. Called “Classroom +” this tool will provide a teacher an endless array of material from popular and renown sources of education, such as “Discovery Education,” and offer a field trip experience without leaving the building. Such a tool can increase the capacity to learn without commensurate increases in budget or staff.”
With online learning now a staple in the post secondary education world, its’ presence and influence on middle school and high school curriculum seems to be a logical next step. With the effort of EDified Online to partner with Catholic schools, that next step can become reality for Catholic educators and students everywhere 24 hours a day.
