Your Go-To Site for Life & Earth Sciences

The Video on EurekaMag.com which has just been uploaded to YouTube focuses on the website's vast library of science resources which cover biology, applied life sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, and health sciences. Besides this array of peer-reviewed scientific references, the video also expands on the site's reviews of popular topics in the natural sciences including both in-depth pieces and short, one-page overviews. In addition to academic research, EurekaMag's agriculture section offers practical guides on the cultivation and production of primary field crops, while the horticulture chapter includes hundreds of references on 19 fruit and 35 vegetable species. The video encourages companies to submit their website to one or more of EurekaMag's more than 14,000 categories.
In addition to this video which is featured also at the homepage of the website EurekaMag.com has published a new review on RhoA (ras homolog gene family, member A) which is a small GTPase protein regulating the actin cytoskeleton in the formation of stress fibers. In humans, it is encoded by the gene RHOA. The comprehensive review covers it's role in cancer by providing details of how activation of ErbB2 and PI3K stimulates RhoA and beta-catenin, which mediate the migration and invasion of tumor cells. It also covers a scientific study evaluating the effect of simulated microgravity on the activation of Rho that is involved in actin fiber remodeling in cells. The RhoA/Rho-kinase pathway may be a therapeutic target for treating PVR (pulmonary vascular resistance). The RhoA/Rho-kinase pathway is also involved in the pathogenesis of high flow induced pulmonary hypertension. For treating such disorders, Fasudil Hydrochloride (INN) has proofed to be a potent Rho-kinase inhibitor and vasodilator treatment able to lower pulmonary artery systolic pressure, suppressing pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells proliferation, attenuating pulmonary artery medial wall thickening and inhibiting right ventricular hypertrophy together with significant suppression of Rho kinase activity. Another drug, Atorvastatin, inhibits Rho signaling and is usually used for lowering blood cholesterol. Research, however, indicates that anti-RhoA small interfering RNA inhibits aggressive breast cancer more effectively than conventional blockers of Rho-mediated signaling pathways. This therapy was found to also be devoid of toxic effects.
The Science Magazine EurekaMag.com was launched in November 1998 as the online version of the French science magazine "Eurêka - Le magazine des sciences" published since 1995. During the past decade, it has emerged as a comprehensive aggregator of information on biology, on the applied life sciences agriculture, horticulture and forestry, on the earth sciences, on the environmental sciences, and on the health sciences. During the end of 2010 it received ca. 40,000 page impressions per day but was republished in September 2011 after a change of ownership.
The Science Magazine has recently been accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry with the registration number 案ICP备10204677号. The site delivers its content through a number of RSS feeds and an @EurekaMag Twitter account. The latter Twitter account currently features 42,770 tweets and 658 followers. The site accepts advertisements through the Google AdWords system. Advertisers may use EurekaMag.com for their campaigns if their niche lies in the life sciences, earth sciences or the health sciences.
