The ARC broward School of HIRE Education eases the transition from high school to adulthood for students with intellectual disabilities.

Sunrise, FL (PRWEB) October 12, 2012

The School Board of Broward County announced a new partnership with the ARC Broward School of HIRE Education, a unique, post-secondary school designed to offer students with intellectual disabilities, ages 18 to 22, access to real world career experience, and the opportunity to enhance life skills, self-confidence and independence.

The ARC Broward School of HIRE Education offers students a comprehensive program that uses community-based instruction and an impressive ratio of 1 instructional staff for every 4 students; instruction is provided in four key areas: domestic, vocational, community, recreation & leisure.

In addition to community-based instruction, one of the unique aspects of the ARC Broward School of HIRE Education is the opportunity for students to gain real-life employment exposure in a variety of actual operating enterprises both on and off of the ARC Broward School of HIRE Education campus, including culinary arts, electronics recycling, office administration, child and elder care.

“The main goal of the ARC Broward School of HIRE Education is to ease the transition from high school to young adulthood for students with intellectual disabilities,” states Dennis Haas, CEO of ARC Broward. “Students attend classes and receive real world job-skill training on ARC Broward’s beautiful, nine-acre campus in Sunrise, providing an engaging, safe environment where abilities are realized, fears are diminished and new opportunities are created.”

Applications for the 2012-2013 school year are now being accepted. Eligible students must have a special high school diploma and live within the geographic boundaries of one of the following high schools: Taravella, Piper, Coconut Creek, Coral Glades, Coral Springs, Monarch, Stoneman Douglas, Plantation. The School of Hire Education follows the School Board of Broward County public school calendar.
