This Fall marked a significant milestone for leading rights and royalties solution provider, Counterpoint Systems. Celebrating its 25th year in business, the company continues to thrive, boasting nearly 500 clients across 30 countries worldwide.
“It’s amazing to look back and see how much progress we’ve made since I started the business in 1987,” says Chairman and Founder, Robert “Bob” Katovsky. “It’s been a very gratifying 25 years,” he continued, “filled with great lessons and wonderful relationships.”
What began as an attempt to create a solution for royalties administration in the music industry, has expanded to supporting clients across the entire spectrum of media and entertainment, merchandising and brand licensing. “If you had asked me 25 years ago if I would be working with market leaders in television broadcasting, film, online gaming, or consumer licensing areas, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. That being said, expansion came quite naturally as we saw the common requirements between the intellectual property industries we currently support.”
Amos Biegun, Counterpoint’s CEO, joined the company in 1996 and saw the tremendous opportunity the company had in front of it. “Building on the basic principles set down by Bob Katovsky, we continued to build flexible solutions developed with the future in mind.” says Biegun. “Our ability to adapt to change is what has sustained our leading position for a quarter of a century,” he added.
As a way to show gratitude to clients and partners, Counterpoint kick started a year of celebrations with a party hosted at the Albannach Restaurant and Whiskey Bar in Trafalgar Square, London in late September. Over 250 people attended the bash, enjoying fine whiskeys, delicious foods, and the camaraderie shared between friends and clients. “We build unique relationships with our clients,” said Ben Clasper, VP of Sales and Product Strategy, “over the years we have learned a lot from our clients and strive to incorporate each lesson into the latest versions of our software to keep pace with technological and business requirements.”
“Twenty five years may seem like a long time for a technology company but we are as current as ever because our software is architected to respond quickly to new and emerging technologies facing content aggregators,” said Biegun. “What has changed over the years are things like formats of distribution or usage, and for those aspects, we are well positioned for another 25 years if not longer.” he added.
