On October 15th, skincare manufacturer, Likewise, comments on an article by Australian News reporting that a new skin cream chemical is being researched and developed by scientists to fight cancer.
According to Australian News site News.com.au, Melbourne researchers at RMIT University have begun early trials for a new chemical which may eliminate cancerous melanoma cells. The developments suggest that the chemical will work like a virus by attacking skin cells infected by melanoma without altering or harming healthy cells. News.com.au reported that if animal trials are a success, the researchers will work to form a skin cream from the chemical which may treat melanoma. According to one of the researchers, Dr. Taghrid Istivan, further research will be conducted on the chemical before the skin cream product is put into development to alleviate concerns of the chemical evolving into a virus that threatens healthy skin cells in addition to cancerous ones.
Likewise Representative Lisa Shariat comments on the new research conducted by the Melbourne scientists. “Thousands of people are stricken with melanoma on a daily basis, largely because the early warning signs are ignored. But, with new developments like the ones being conducted in Melbourne, catching melanoma in the earliest stages may soon be as simple as applying lotion,” says Shariat.
Likewise, which produces and manufactures various skin moisturizers and lotions, knows that maintaining healthy skin is as important, if not more so, than as ensuring that it looks fresh. “Creating skincare products that facilitate healthy skin and reduce the damage of hazards like melanoma is crucial. The chemicals being researched in Melbourne and elsewhere are good stepping stones toward skincare products that could prevent skin cancer completely. It’s great to think that one day a quick touch-up of skin lotion may eliminate all the fear of going out into the sun,” says Shariat.
