The Personal Injury Lawyers at d'Oliveira & Associates are currently seeking clients who have had blood clots, deep vein thrombosis, heart attacks, strokes, or knew someone who died while using the birth control method, NuvaRing. The firm is working with some of the leading NuvaRing lawyers in the country and are offering a "no win, no fee promise" to these individuals and families, which means that there will be no fee charged unless and until the client receives a settlement or an award.

On September 18, 2012, a law firm filed a lawsuit against NuvaRing on behalf of a woman who suffered a deep vein thrombosis while using NuvaRing. The lawsuit was filed in New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County, and named Merck & Co. Organon USA, Inc., Organon Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., N.V. Organon, Schering Plough Corporation and Akzo Nobel, NV as Defendants. (BER-L-007242-12). Deep vein thrombosis is a serious, life-threatening type of blood clot.

Recently, nine of the hundreds of lawsuits filed against NuvaRing have been scheduled to go to trial on February 2013. This frequently happens when there are a large number of lawsuits filed against one company and all for the same or very similar reasons. In these lawsuits, the plaintiffs are claiming that the manufacturer of this drug, Merck & Co., and its subsidiary, Organon Pharmaceuticals, did not adequately warn patients about the high risk of blood clots.

Although it is well known that all hormonal birth controls create a slight risk of blood clots, studies show NuvaRing presents a higher risk of blood clots than other forms of birth control on the market. In June of this year, Research published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that women who used NuvaRing were 2.5 to 3 times more likely to experience heart attacks and strokes compared to women who used other types of hormonal birth control. A study published the month before in the British Medical Journal found that NuvaRing users are 90% more likely to suffer a dangerous blood clot than women taking other oral contraceptives.

In addition to the blood clots mentioned above, NuvaRing has many other severe side effects. Some of the risks of NuvaRing include strokes and heart attached, high blood pressure and heart disease, cancer of the reproductive organs and breast, gallbladder disease, liver tumors, and lipic metabolism and inflammation of the pancreas. The list of less serious side effects is long and includes vaginal infections and irritation, vaginal secretion, headache, weight gain, nausea, vomiting, change in appetite, abdominal cramps and bloating, depression, and skin rash, to name a few.

If you or a loved one has suffered any of the side effects or died as a result of NuvaRing use, the attorneys at d'Oliveira & Associates want you to know that you may be entitled to compensation. Working with the leading defective product and NuvaRing attorneys handling these cases, d'Oliveira & Associates wants to not only ensure that you are offered the legal representation you deserve, but to also tell you that there is a "No Win, No Fee Promise" for your claim.
