Allsup and the Case Management Society of America will recognize case managers and increase public awareness about their significant contributions to the healthcare industry during National Case Management Week Oct. 14-20.
Belleville, Ill. (PRWEB) October 12, 2012
Oct. 12, 2012—Case management professionals play an essential advocacy role to American patients and caregivers who need to navigate the healthcare system. During National Case Management Week, held Oct. 14-20, 2012, Allsup, a nationwide provider of Social Security disability representation and Medicare plan selection service, will join the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), the largest and oldest nonprofit, multidisciplinary professional association dedicated to the support and advancement of the case management profession, to recognize case managers and increase public awareness about their significant contributions to the healthcare industry.
According to CMSA, case managers guide and enable their clients to achieve health-related goals more effectively and efficiently and also provide cohesion to other professionals in the healthcare delivery team. Case managers help individuals meet their unique health needs by facilitating care assessment, planning and coordination. Their efforts help healthcare providers, payers and regulators understand how patients and their caregivers navigate through the care continuum.
CMSA is active in supporting legislative initiatives to improve access to and quality of healthcare, control costs and improve outcomes for patients. These initiatives include the Medicare Transitional Care Act of 2012, legislation which seeks to improve transitions of care for Medicare beneficiaries at highest risk for readmission.
CMSA offers many resources for case management professionals and those interested in learning more about the profession. The association, which holds its annual conference in June, is currently offering its virtual Extended Conference online. The 2013 Annual Conference & Expo will be held in New Orleans, June 25-28, 2013.
Case managers also can access the free online Allsup True Help® Disability Web Expo until Wednesday, Dec. 26. The Expo, which launched Sept. 27 with a live-day event, features 20 booths offering resources, videos, webinars and more. Register at WebExpo.Allsup.com for the free Expo and receive announcements about upcoming activities.
