Camas, WA (PRWEB) October 18, 2012
CritterMap Software reported today on the immediate availability of digital content to aid hunters using their popular outdoor Android GPS app, BackCountry Navigator. These add-ons help hunters, who are already navigating in remote areas using topo maps and aerial photos, identify boundaries of key regions in order to respect private property and local game laws.
Popular since last year are BLM (Bureau of Land Mangement) boundary maps of 12 western states. These show the boundaries between various classes of public lands, such as national forests or state parks, and private lands.
Introduced this fall are boundary maps of Game Management Units (GMUs) in several states. This addition has been highly requested by hunters. Different hunting rules may apply according to one of many numbered hunting regions throughout a state. In some states, such as Idaho, they also show the boundaries of several special hunting areas, such as private land open for public hunting use.
Having this information displayed on map on an Android device allows users to see at a glance if they are within boundaries based on their GPS location. Since the data comes directly from the state agencies, this can be considerably easier than bringing the regulation manual and a professional team of surveyors.
BackCountry Navigator PRO is available now for $9.99 from the Google Play Store for Android-compatible phones and tablets. BLM and GMU boundary addons are available as an inapp purchase ranging from $4.99 to $9.99.
