Just over a week ago Facebook announced that it hit 1 Billion users and other niche-based sites like Pheed and CyPop have seen significant user growth as a roll on effect as well. Pinterest is a great example of a niche network, which has a limited user base but has grown significantly based on the path carved by Facebook. Pinterest isn’t the only one though as SportsYapper and Viddy have also seen strong user growth.
“While Facebook is still the most dominate social network and will stay dominant for a long time yet it’s time to start broadening your social media strategy past just Facebook. If there is a niche network in your industry which has great user engagement then you definitely should add that to your marketing plan.” Said Mr Junghenn
