Cincinnati, OH, Oct 29, 2012: Tired of the divisiveness and infighting that is plaguing our government, Mitch Fingerman is throwing his hat in the ring and making a second run for Congress in Ohio's 1st District. "It's time to hit the reset button," said Fingerman, "and I'm offering an alternative to the status quo."
Fingerman's entrance into the race for the 1st District is also a direct reaction to the Democrats failure to mount a viable challenge to the incumbent in the 1st District. "The Ohio Democratic Party has given up on the good folks of the 1st District, so I've given up on the ODP." explains Fingerman.
Fingerman's previous, successful run for Congress as a Democrat, is chronicled in the recently released book, "Field of Fingers," by D.S. Meyers. "The Dems are running a lame duck and telling their supporters to give their money to the presidential race," Fingerman continues. "They're not supporting the party faithful in the district. And they're not reaching out to those Republicans we know are dissatisfied as well. They're brushing off the feelings of the citizens of the Ohio 1st. It's one big comb-over."
Running as an independent, Fingerman seeks to represent all voters, regardless of political affiliation, age, income, race, gender, sexual orientation, Star Trek series preference, religion, or other demographic identifier. "This campaign is about bringing people together," remarked Fingerman. "There are tons of folks from both parties that want to vote 'None of the Above.' I am that None."
"I want to show the world that the first district doesn't just elect Republicans." Fingerman clarifies, "That's not true at all! The first district only elects pro-lifers. And as a former pro-life Democrat, I will fight for the rights of every unborn fetus - including their right to universal healthcare. Can my opponent say that?!"
Although his campaign comes as a last minute challenge to the incumbent Republican's overwhelming financial juggernaut in a very one-sided race, Fingerman feels confident that he can shake things up. "This isn't just a campaign. This is a quest - a religious quest. A mission from God."
Many national celebrities and local political elite have come out in support of Fingerman, including many musicians, artists, and writers. "This is a grass-roots movement, man, forged in frustration and carried on the waves of the Internet aether," opines Campaign Chair Stan Rooter, while smoking outside campaign headquarters. "This is no pipe dream -- we're in it to win it!"
The Fingerman campaign urges the citizens of the 1st District to write-in "Mitch Fingerman" on election day. "Send a message to Washington. We need someone to represent the 1st Disctrict who isn't afraid of making the tough decisions, like considering the needs of the many above the needs of the one [percent]. A congressman who will fight to unionize Wall Street. A legislator that will spend more time in is home district than wasting time in Washington. Help me send a message - I will deliver it personally. Give Washington the Finger, man!"
