Cheap-Neckties.com, a discount retailer for men's ties, has just expanded its popular series focusing titled "Fashion Icons From the Past". Fashion blogger Hendrik Pohl, who is also the founder of the site has now taking a closer look at celebrities like Gregory Peck, Frank Sinatra, Al Capone, and dozen others - not for their contributions to society, but for the way they have been leaving a positive mark in the world of mens fashion.
“Icons from the Past is a series we began exploring just a few months ago, and it happens to be one of our favorite topics to cover,” says Cheap-Neckties.com founder Pohl. “So many well-known icons were not only recognized for their talents, but for the way they approached fashion and style as well. These were men who knew the importance of putting a little bit of time and effort into one’s appearance, and are sorely missed in today’s world. We wanted to continue highlighting those individuals that have left their mark in the world of men's fashion.”
Each piece in the series focuses on the aspects of each given individual’s fashion and style that set him apart from the crowd. Fashion photographer Richard Avedon is highlighted, for example, as is the well-known deceased actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. The pieces also contain a section entitled Takeaways for the Modern Man, which explains ways in which modern men can incorporate elements of each subject’s style into their own look.
“Just because none of these men are alive anymore doesn’t mean that the way they approached fashion and style no longer holds importance,” says Pohl. “The opposite is true, in fact. Take a look at Richard Avedon; he was way ahead of his time in that he embraced the same slim-fitting attire that is now popular in modern men’s fashion. Each person we cover in this series dressed in a way that modern men can learn a lot from studying, which is where the Takeaways for the Modern Man section comes in.”
In addition to selling men's neckwear, Cheap-Neckties is known for publishing a variety of different article series’ relating to men’s fashion. Topics covered include fashion tips, modern trends and profiles of celebrity style.
“We view the article series’ we publish as being an integral part of our business model,” says Pohl. “After all, it would be irresponsible for us to not take the time to educate our customers about the finer points of men’s fashion, which is why we go to great lengths to ensure that our article series’ are as information as possible. A great deal of research goes into each piece we publish; we wouldn’t have it any other way.
