“We are proud to be recognized as industry innovators that enabled SpawGlass to save time, improve efficiency and streamline project site management, ” said Peter Poulin, Motion’s vice president of marketing.
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
Motion Computing®, the worldwide leader in rugged tablet PCs and mobility solutions, today announced that its customer SpawGlass, running Autodesk software, won Gold at the 2012 Constructech Vision Awards in the Building/GC Commercial $251 million to $500 million category.
Presented at the conclusion of Constructech magazine’s seventh annual Technology Day Conference, the Vision Awards honor companies that have realized the advantages of applying innovative technologies to their businesses, as well as the solution providers that have helped them achieve their goal.
The award recognizes SpawGlass, a Texas-based commercial and civil contractor, for its proactive integration of software technologies, such as Autodesk, with Motion® F5v Tablet PCs to create efficiencies, streamline procedures and transform the entire construction, commissioning and handover process.
“Being recognized for implementing new mobility technologies at the jobsite is an honor,” said Joel Stone, SpawGlass CEO. “By integrating the Motion F5v Tablet PC into our daily routine, we have saved countless hours managing time sensitive construction projects. Ultimately, the Motion tablets allow us to work more efficiently, which benefits our clients.”
SpawGlass implemented the Motion F5v Tablet PCs as part of its enterprise-wide building information modeling (BIM) adoption strategy. Using the F5v, all relevant information used to design, construct and coordinate the project is readily accessible to any of the team members throughout construction.
With the mobility solution in place, SpawGlass is now able to provide project owners with a long-term, portable asset management solution by tagging building components within the model with a barcode number. When construction of a project is complete, SpawGlass can download the model and database to the F5v for use in commissioning and handover to the owner. The ability to give the owner the F5v with all the commissioning data and the model, which directly connects to their server system, is a very powerful and critical step forward for the future of the construction industry.
“At Motion we are committed to delivering complete solutions that significantly improve jobsite performance by bringing technology to the point of construction,” said Peter Poulin, Motion’s vice president of marketing. “We are proud to be recognized as industry innovators that enabled SpawGlass to save time, improve efficiency and streamline project site management.”
Built for the unique needs of mobile professionals across a broad range of vertical markets, Motion’s mobile computing solutions improve jobsite performance by providing real-time access to all relevant information used to design, construct and coordinate the construction process. Make no mistake, the 2012 winners carry on this stellar tradition,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech. “These companies have implemented technology solutions that are improving their businesses far beyond what we could have even imagined just a few years ago. Now, with an eye on tomorrow, they are using technology to serve as a strong foundation as we advance the future of IT in the industry.”
