Clinical Study at Presence Health Life Connections Supports WoundRounds® Wound Management & Prevention Software Solution

Presence Health, which provides healthcare services in the Chicago area, and WoundRounds®, the point-of-care wound management software and prevention solution, were featured in a clinical study on wound care presented at the 4th Annual Symposium on Advanced Wound Care Fall (SAWC) poster session. During the seven month study, Presence Heritage Village, a 51-bed skilled nursing facility, was able to decrease the incidence of facility-acquired pressure ulcers by over 80%. According to the study, this significant and sustained decrease may be attributable to improved documentation and communication among the care team using the WoundRounds electronic wound documentation system

According to the study, this significant and sustained decrease may be attributable to improved documentation and communication among the care team using the WoundRounds electronic wound documentation system. “This study validates what we’ve been hearing from customers,” says Mike Diamond, CEO of WoundRounds. “WoundRounds users report that the point-of-care system not only empowers nurses to deliver better wound care in less time, but also helps facilities reduce risk and liability,” adds Diamond.

Beth Florczak, MS, RN, WCC, RAC-CT, Director of Quality for Presence Life Connections, was the principal investigator for the study. Florczak says, “Conducting this study demonstrated that WoundRounds helped our clinicians to sustainably reduce pressure ulcers. Today, Presence uses the WoundRounds system across ten skilled nursing facilities.”

Presence Heritage Village was featured in a previous study, published in March 2012 in Ostomy Wound Management. According to that clinical study, WoundRounds increased wound care management efficiency and effectiveness, and was easier for nurses to use than conventional wound documentation systems.
