Cancer and heart disease are perhaps the two most well-known fatal diseases. But as scientists continue to study the causes of a variety of potentially fatal medical conditions, a new threat is now being labeled the “silent killer” – chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation, or an ongoing and often generalized swelling in the tissues of the body, is linked to numerous diseases, and is the target of Prograde Nutrition's new product, Prograde Genesis.

Prograde, which makes health supplements with a careful eye to the latest research and medical discoveries, originally planned Genesis to be a greens supplement, helping the body get all the vital nutrients found in leafy vegetables. But Prograde's research director, Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter, came across breakthrough research linking chronic inflammation to cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, alzheimer's, cerebrovascular disease, strokes, and chronic pain.

“We decided we had to include ingredients that would help fight inflammation,” Hunter said. “The best recommendation doctors have for reducing or preventing chronic infammation is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. For most people, that's impractical and expensive. So we decided to include extracts of the most potent berries and fruits as well as greens in Genesis.”

Patients with severe cases of chronic inflammation are sometimes prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs, but Hunter says these can be hard on the liver and kidneys.

“You're talking about something that affects every cell in the body,” Hunter explained. “The drugs for that are harsh. They save lives, but so can fruit and veggies. We want to offer an all natural approach so people can avoid chronic inflammation in the first place, or reduce its effects.”

Genesis comes in the form of a powder, which can be mixed in smoothies or juice.

“We also gave a lot of thought to taste,” Hunter added. “We tried all our competitors and, believe me, Genesis is the best tasting powder on the market.”
