The Pinterest marketing platform focuses on continuing to strengthen its platform as it increases social engagement for brands

Today Dobango, the first-ever social marketing platform for Pinterest, announced it has raised $600,000 in seed funding to turn one of the world’s fastest growing social networks into scalable marketing solution for brands.

Headed by Nexage founder Devkumar Gandhi, Dobango is the first company to effectively monetize and run social marketing campaigns for brands on Pinterest, even though Pinterest itself has yet to launch its own API. Dobango has spent the past 6 months creating a way for brands to build and measure targeted social contests using pinboards.

How it works:

  •     Dobango creates a contest page for consumers to post user generated content
  •     Dobango’s social marketing platform automatically pins users' content to the brand’s Pinterest page
  •     Dobango synchronizes data from Pinterest to track contest progress and notify winners of daily prizes

As a pioneer in mobile advertising exchanges through his company Nexage, Gandhi has spent over a decade helping brands engage consumers on emerging platforms. Gandhi plans to use the seed funds to fully differentiate from other early movers on Pinterest by focusing solely on marketing campaigns beyond analytics.

Dobango has already proven that its platform can drive dramatic gains in Pinterest engagement for brands. A recent campaign with Outta the Park BBQ Sauce grabbed the attention of 176 influential food bloggers, some of which have up to 8,000 followers. As a result of the contest, Outta the Park’s Pinterest following increased by over 150%, and its Facebook following increased by 40% in just 10 days.
