Digital 1 Audio, Inc announced today the official launch of a new version of the company's premier karaoke show hosting software, PCDJ Karaoki, with integrated Karaoke Cloud Pro service, a subscription platform designed by DigiTrax Entertainment for the professional karaoke show hosts.
"It’s truly a great opportunity for PCDJ and our customers to have the world’s first legal karaoke subscription for professional KJ’s and venues integrated directly into our award winning PCDJ Karaoki karaoke software,” said Ryan Sherr, GM of Digital 1 Audio/PCDJ. “Not only will our customers have access to 8000 plus high-quality mp3+G karaoke files right in their Karaoki track library, but they can also rest easy knowing they’re performing with commercially legal media.”
More than 300 lawsuits have been filed against karaoke jocks (“KJs”), and 300 more are in preparation for filing, according to a spokesperson for Piracy Recovery, LLC, with awards for pirated works reaching as high as $1.5 million. Thousands more KJs are under investigation.
“We’ve licensed with major music publishers Sony/ATV, Warner-Chappell and EMI to begin cleaning up our industry,” said Joseph Vangieri, CEO of DigiTrax Entertainment, “before piracy puts an end to all karaoke, everywhere."
" We brought the best minds in the karaoke business together for our Music City Karaoke Summit in Nashville this summer,” continues Vangieri, “and the consensus was to find a solution, a way for KJs to get and stay legal that was easier and not much more expensive than stealing karaoke. Above all, we had to find a way to make certain that all our customers could use the service with the absolute assurance that every single track is licensed, legal, and certified to play in public venues.”
PCDJ Karaoki has been one of the most innovative karaoke software products in the KJ show hosting space for the past 5 years, so offering the world’s first legal in-app karaoke subscription for professionals seemed like a perfect match. KJs can select which songs they want to use at their shows through Karaoki while connected to the internet, then disconnect to take the collection to their venue, using Karaoki to host the show.
“It was important for professional KJ’s to go offline with the Karaoke Cloud Pro subscription when using PCDJ Karaoki. Often times they are hosting karaoke shows in venues without an internet connection, so the ability to download and store the karaoke mp3+G files locally on their computer was paramount,” says Ryan Sherr. “We’re proud of the work we’ve put into developing our subscription technology, it’s already proven to be rock solid in a real-world environment which is of course one of the most important items for a professional KJ.”
PCDJ and DigiTrax anticipate new KJs who are looking to break into the business will find the service, priced at $99 per month during an introductory period, is priced many thousands of dollars below the cost of acquiring an 8,000-song library, and that KJs who are already have large catalogs will find the service a cost-effective way to add additional hosting “rigs”, expanding their ability to host more shows.
