Port Angeles, Washington (PRWEB) November 04, 2012
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society today announced the results of the three-month long fundraising feasibility study conducted by Animal Shelter Fundraising. The non-profit humane society had the feasibility study performed to assess its chance of successfully raising enough capital to fund construction of a 10,000 square-foot shelter.
The study recommended that it is feasible for the humane society to raise $1.2 million to fund construction of a new animal shelter. The capital campaign would begin sometime in early 2014 following the implementation of these recommendations:
1. The governing board strengthens itself through modifications to the current board composition to also include review and enhancement of current board policies and procedures.
2. The organization implement an Advisory Board.
3. Introduction of new fundraising strategies and tactics.
As part of its commitment to improve the lives of homeless animals in Clallam County, the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has purchased a 9.5-acre parcel of land located at 1743 Old Olympic Highway. The location is convenient for residents of both Port Angeles and Sequim. Funds raised during the shelter's capital campaign will be used to construct a facility designed to meet the needs of residents and animals for many years to come.
"We are very excited about the potential of this piece of land," said Kandace Pierce, Board President. "The animals will enjoy a much better environment, as will our staff and the public who visit us."
It is also recommended that the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society give serious consideration to opening and operating a small, adoption-only center in Sequim. This would be a first step to moving onto the new property.
