Nov. 1 was a memorable day at Old Palm Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens as the proverbial ribbon was cut on its Raymond Floyd-designed course following extensive high-tech enhancements.
The enhancements include the addition of patented TrackMan golf-radar technology, a hardware-and-software bundle that analyzes a golfer’s swing, as well as the flight of the ball, down to its most accurate detail. TrackMan put the 33-acre golf studio at Old Palm Gold Club in a class by itself.
In addition to the significant improvement to the golf studio, the renovations focused on the course’s putting facilities and its trio of regulation-length practice greens. All have been re-sodded with TifEagle Bermudagrass that makes for fast play.
The TifEagle Bermudagrass will require golfers to take more care when repairing divots and ball marks. Such repairs weren’t necessary on the course’s old Paspalum grass.
The fairways that roll behind many Old Palm Golf Club homes for sale have been re-shaped, re-contoured and, in several instances, enlarged. The 7,401-yard, par-72 course also saw some new bunkers installed for a big dose of challenge play.
Bud Taylor, Old Palm Golf Club’s director of golf, said the TifEagle greens will offer members a pure playing surface that can be enjoyed by all skill sets.
Old Palm Golf Club is renowned for its distinctly different front and back nine. The front nine sweeps through wetlands teeming with wildlife while the back towers with slash pines and native palms.
Its namesake serves as the entire club’s esteemed honorary chairman.
Waterfront Properties and Club Communities has a successful sales record at Old Palm Golf Club, one of its more popular picks for buyers looking for Palm Beach Gardens golf homes. The neighborhood of elegant estate homes is off Central Boulevard, between Interstate 95 and Florida’s Turnpike.
