LUBBOCK, Texas (PRWEB) November 15, 2012
When a young feminist goes undercover in this new novel to investigate egregious abuses of women’s rights in Americus, a country composed of Texas and other states that peacefully seceded from the United States little more than a decade earlier, she finds more than she bargained for. Sent by the U.N. Women’s Rights Commission to expose what’s happening in sexist, male-dominated Americus – which possesses a lie detector claimed infallible – Genevieve doesn’t realize she is bait in a royal trap involving King Philip of Great Britain, and that her brother is with him. She learns of it but believes only that her brother, Jesse, is in serious danger and must be found and gotten out of Americus. To search effectively for him, she becomes a legal Americus immigrant and a "declared man" able to search for him anywhere – wrinkling her unexpected romantic attraction to someone who may not be what he appears.
“Man’s Land: Feminist Peril in Americus” develops a two-pronged suspenseful tale, first of personal danger and retaliation and then of machinations by nations positioning themselves for international power. At immediate stake is a veto-empowered United Nations Security Council seat prized by both masculine Americus and feminist America. Will Genevieve and her brother survive? Will feminist America keep its Security Council seat? The answers are complicated by the involvement of The Pacific States, a different, California-led, seceded nation.
Y.B. Raymond’s tale contains suspense, social commentary, and subtle, contradictory amusement for the perceptive reader. Out of the author’s science-based imagination comes the Aromatic Situational Sensing Holistic Evaluator, redefined as the DeedapD, the infallible, scent detecting, deception detector giving Americus a unique advantage that other countries cannot match. Raymond is a former state assistant attorney general.
