Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S., yet more than 45 million Americans still smoke cigarettes.
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) November 27, 2012
Texas insurance agency, Noltensmeyer Insurance Services LLC, encourages all smokers in the state of Texas to take part in the Great American Smokeout. Established 37 years ago, the Great American Smokeout is held in November. The goal is to get smokers to avoid smoking for at least 24 hours, if not for good. This is a large step in the right direction for many.
“Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S., yet more than 45 million Americans still smoke cigarettes,” according to the American Cancer Society. The good news? More than half of these smokers have attempted to quit for at least one day in the past year. Smokers in Texas who have not done so already have the chance to do so now, along with millions of others.
Those who are successful have plenty of benefits to look forward to, including:
- A drop in blood pressure
- A whiter, brighter smile
- An improvement in dental and mouth health
- Improved blood circulation
- Improved lung functionality
- Less coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, etc.
- Reduction of infection in the lungs
- Reduced risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and various other diseases
- Reduced risk of various cancers, such as lung, bladder, cervical, mouth, throat, esophagus, etc.
Besides reaping the health benefits of quitting, smokers will also be rewarded with more money in their pockets. Cigarettes are not cheap, neither is a Texas health insurance or Texas life insurance premium for those who smoke.
The agents at Noltensmeyer Insurance Services hope that all current smokers participate in this event and wish everyone luck!
