About BID (World Quality Commitment Award)
Founded in 1984, the World Quality Commitment Awards are presented by Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D.), an organization that recognizes companies worldwide for implementing and promoting quality culture. Jose E. Prieto, who is also the creator of the QC100 TQM, founded the publishing group JBAN in 1973. Starting in 1986, with incorporation of international partners, he presides over Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D.), a team formed by engineers, physicists, mathematicians, economists, sociologists, and journalists.

B.I.D. presents World Quality Commitment Awards in three categories, based on the criteria of excellence in leadership and business management; quality and excellence; business and brand-name prestige; and technology, innovation, and projection. The nominated companies go through a rigorous voting process, in which companies are judged on the basis of customer satisfaction, communication strategies, benchmarking, information and data analysis, leadership, planning and decision-making, human resources, continuing education and training, processes and production, financial outcome, business results, ISO 9000, and TQM.

Voting is conducted during the B.I.D. World Congress over a period of 10 months and comprises personal encounters with business leaders through mails and online polls, and consultation with media, consultancy companies, advertising agencies, trade fairs and exhibits, chambers of commerce, and embassies.
