Lexi Maxxwell has vowed to throw a giant party for her private group of readers when her first erotica bundle, "50 Shades of Lexi Maxxwell" reaches 69 total reviews. The title currently has earned 63.
"For obvious reasons, my fans will love it if the reviews hit '69' and I want to reward them for their reading and loyalty with a big party."
Ms. Maxxwell writes under a pen name, and since her identity is a secret, her celebration must be virtual. Lexi plans to reward her weekly email subscribers with an exclusive book just for them.
"I offer my readers free erotica every week, but all of it's on Amazon. I thought a special way for me to say thank you for all they do by reading nearly every one of my filthy little thoughts is to write an exclusive story that isn't available on Amazon."
With a heavy background in marketing and copywriting, Ms. Maxxwell knows that readers love exclusivity.
"50 Shades" was released in late September to an immediate and overwhelmingly positive critical reception. Out of 63 total reviews, 58 of Ms. Maxxwell's reviews are 5-Stars, while the other 8 are all 4-Stars. Her second bundle, "42 Filthy *** Stories" is younger, but still doing extremely well with 19 reviews – one 1-Star and 18 5-Stars.
"I'm not sure what I'll do when '42' goes '69,'" Maxxwell said. "I'll probably write another exclusive, but I think I'll have to think up something even better than that. I do love my readers after all!"
With Lexi's debut Novel, "Bitten", coming out in just another couple of weeks, she does admit to a being worried about reader reviewing burnout.
"Yes," she said. "Getting reviews is hard enough. It's even harder when you publish every week, which I have this entire year, ever since January 7. Readers will gladly review your work once or twice, but every week just doesn't happen. It's not like I can move a few hundred short story reviews over to my novel, which is where I really need it, but hopefully I'll be able to get at least some!"
As an erotica author who has quickly made a name for herself, Ms. Maxxwell should have no trouble earning reviews for her novel, which promises to offer all the same naughty fun and playful vulgarity readers have come to expect from Lexi, but with the word count and pages to offer a depth of character and storytelling that simply isn't possible with just a few thousand words.
Lexi said, "I can't wait for the party, can't wait for "Bitten" to come out, and I can't wait for all of 2013. It's going to be the best year ever!"
If 2013 grows for Ms. Maxxwell as much as 2012 has so far, she has every reason to be excited.
