Martini gets groups of friends together offline so they can meet other outgoing people in their city.

Martini launches today in the App Store and in Google Play providing New Yorkers with a mobile tool to meet new people in their city. Martini sets up groups of friends with other groups of friends to get people offline and out into the city for group mixers.
"Meeting new people should be fun and easy," said Abel Acuña, co-founder of Martini and recent Harvard graduate. "Sitting alone at a computer is not how we naturally meet new people. It is often a more casual activity done with people you already know. Martini gets groups of friends together offline so they can meet other outgoing people in their city."
Martini uses Facebook Connect to instantly populate user profiles. Users create groups with their existing Facebook friends, who don't need to download the application to accept a group invitation. Every day at midnight, Martini matches groups and users are given 24 hours to decide whether or not to meet up.
"We think receiving nightly matches will become fun for our users. People can look forward to who they've been matched up with before going to sleep or when waking up," said Acuña. "Our double opt-in process for accepting group matches also ensures that unwanted messaging doesn't occur. It also eliminates the need to browse profiles, which can be very intimidating and time consuming."
If both groups decide to accept the match, a chatroom opens for the groups to arrange a meetup. Martini doesn't restrict its users in the time or location of the meetup, allowing groups to decide on those details together.
“Our goal is to add a mobile, social layer to everyday life dedicated to groups of friends who want to meet new people in their city,” said Acuña.
Martini is available today as a free download in the Apple App Store and in Google Play.
